Eddie Slusser is a composer of contemporary art music. He has composed two orchestra works, The Eruption of Vesuvius, and Siege of Masada. His latest orchestra piece is The Moons of Pluto. Mr. Slusser also composes works for string quartets, solo instruments, and mixed ensembles. His latest works (composed in early 2022), include Propulsion, for solo cello, and Jesus Wept, for solo viola. Mr. Slusser received the Smit Composition Award from the Composition Department at the University of Memphis.
Eddie has performed in and around the Memphis area for over two decades. He has performed on the Today Show, and toured parts of the United States and Canada with the legendary pianist/singer Jerry Lee Lewis. He has performed shows in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana with saxophonist Ace Cannon.
Eddie is employed as a guitar instructor at the Howard Vance Guitar Academy in Memphis where he taught hundreds of people to play the guitar over the past twenty plus years. He also taught bass, piano, and mandolin while teaching at the academy. Currently, Eddie is teaching lessons on line from his home in Columbia, Tennessee.
Mr. Slusser earned his Master of Music in Composition from the University of Memphis. He has also earned two undergraduate degrees from the university, one in music composition, and one in professional studies. Eddie is a member of phi kappa phi honor society.
